Behind the bustling city, there are always marginalized people in some unknown corners. Pai Hsien-yung’s Crystal Boys deeply explored the inner world of such a group of ‘crystal boys’ who lived at the bottom of society and were abandoned by their families and society from unique perspectives. In the novel, Pai Hsien-yung not only revealed the survival dilemma of homosexuals in society, but also indirectly reflected the social landscape and historical changes at that time by depicting the fate and encounter of the characters. Crystal Boys has received widespread attention since its publication. This article has aimed to deeply analyze and discuss the theme of awareness of Pai Hsien-yung’s Crystal Boys.
