초록
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency and productivity change of regional health and medical resources using DEA and Global Malmquist productivity index(MPIG). For analyses, national statistical data on health and medical resources from 17 cities and provinces between 2014 to 2020 were used. The results of this study were as follows. First, as a result of descriptive statistical analysis, it was found that the input variables, the number of specialists, the number of nurses, and the number of beds, were steadily increasing in 17 regions. Second, in the DEA analysis, more than 12 regions a year during study period showed Diminishing returns to scale(DRS) inefficiency. Third, MPIG analysis revealed that productivity index change was mainly influenced by best practice change(BPC) rather than efficiency change(EC). In order to improve the efficiency and productivity of regional health care resources, long-term supporting policies from the central and local governments are necessary as well as to introduce specialization and technology development of regional medical institutions and to expand the use of public and private health care resources.
