국민당의 재집권과 대만의 대내외정책 변화 전망

초록

In sum, The presidential election of 2008 in Taiwan resulted in KMT’s brilliant comeback and DPP’s shabby stepping down. The main reasons of this result are the misgovernment of Chen Shui-bian administration and the crisis of legitimacy. Especially president Chen’s excessive drive for ‘identity and independence of Taiwan’ ultimately hurt his political interest. Also the crisis of legitimacy of president Chen is the biggest obstruction to DPP’s presidential candidate Hsieh Chang-Ting. On the contrary, after successive defeats KMT has renewed their corruptive, old-fashioned image through renovation and appointed earlier Ma Ying-jeou as a presidential candidate. In particular, Ma insisted on active cooperation with China for economic restoration of Taiwan. As a result, Ma gained full confidence of Taiwan voters who expected the stability(安定), the peace of mind(安心), the security(安全). As mentioned above Ma Ying-jeou administration launched through accumulated misgovernment of president Chen and KMT’s pragmatic slogan∕vision and they will promote various policies as follows. Firstly, they will try to achieve social coordination and national consensus. Secondly they will drive so called ‘Ma Ying-jeounomics’ to satisfy Taiwan people’s desire for economic restoration. Thirdly, they will constrain exhausting diplomatic row with PRC and will try to strengthen Taiwan’s status as a quasi-sovereign state. In conclusion, Ma Ying-jeou administration will try to realize coexistence and coprosperity with PRC and will restrain exhausting controversy about unification and independence. Nevertheless Ma Ying-jeou administration’s practical policies are very different from a fundamental solution of Taiwan issue, so it is inevitable to have some friction and instability of the cross strait relations.
