코로나 19 시기 대학생의 휴학 요인과 의미 탐색에 관한 합의적 질적 연구

초록

Objectives The purpose of study is to finds out what factors influenced undergraduate students who decided to take a leave of absence at the time, and to explore the daily life experience and the meaning of leave of absence during the COVID-19 period. Methods To this end, among undergraduate students in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, who had taken a leave of absence between 2020 and 2022 during the COVID-19 period, a total of 11 people were selected for the interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the Consensus Qualitative Research(CQR) method. Results Totally, 7 areas, 18 categories and 48 subcategories were derived. First, undergraduate students who took a leave of absence during the COVID-19 period experienced academic, interpersonal, and psychological changes until they decided to take a leave of absence. Second, the decisive reasons for taking a leave of absence were identified as inexperienced coping with school, maladjustment to college life, and attempts to change outside of school. Third, their daily life during the leave of absence was different from before COVID-19, and through the experience of taking a leave of absence, they expanded their attitudes and perceptions about life and derived a meaning of gaining a new perspective on college life. Based on this, the opinions and wishes that those who experienced a leave of absence during the COVID-19 period were confirmed about students, faculty, and college. Conclusions This study explored the background factors for determining leave of absence during the COVID-19 period, daily life during the leave of absence, and the meaning of leave of absence. By revealing the relationship between the impact of COVID-19 and the experience of taking a leave of absence among undergraduate students, the importance of college life and various support measures to help undergraduate students adapt were discussed.
