This study was aimed at analyzing the rapidly decreasing interest in professional baseball. Accordingly, this study applied the concept of Edward Relph's Placelessness to the professional baseball stadium in Korean society and analyzed it from a critical perspective. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with 8 professional baseball fans. The following are the findings collected in this study. The elements of Edward Relph's Placelessness applicable to domestic professional baseball stadiums are mass communication, other-oriented place, central power, and management system, and uniformity is the key of the findings analyzed through these elements. Domestic professional baseball teams commonly imitated the professional baseball stadiums in the United States and the marketing techniques of overseas clubs and applied it in South Korea. As a result, the interest in professional baseball increased for a short time. However, this deprived the unique traits of each club and eventually standardized the operation of all the clubs. In addition, the fans are nothing less or more than consumers, so fans are no longer interested since the professional baseball teams are only focused on the momentary increase of fans and profit. This transformed baseball stadiums into an insincere placelessness space that is commercial. Accordingly, the club has to evade the standardized operations and operate with the unique traits of each club. These efforts should be manifested in the stadium to transform the concept of the stadiums into sincere spaces.
