Fault diagnosis by Zwicker parameters of vibration signal detected by Laser vibrometer

The purpose of this study was to investigate the fault diagnosis method through the vibration signal. Irregular noise coming from a commercial products has a significant correlation to the possible defects in the system. The noise emissions are induced by defective gears, misalignments, or incomplete assembly. In such cases, the sounds are closely correlated to the vibration of the products. This vibration is less sensitive to noise from the other machines. We measured the vibration response during normal operation of the microwave machines having wide variety of detects, and Zwicker parameters calculated for measured vibration response were applied to analyze the temporal characteristics. Fault diagnosis was performed by using discriminant analysis. The various defects in the system occurring during manufacturing process were accurately identified.
