Adjoint Method for Data Augmentation of Photonic Structures

We propose an adjoint-based data augmentation method for photonic optimization problems. We demonstrate that the proposed method dramatically improves data efficiency by finding a high-efficiency metalens design that shows 87% focusing efficiency.
