탈세속화와 신자유주의 체제에서 공공성 함양을 위한 불교교육의 길

초록

PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to search for a way for Buddhist education to cultivate publicity in the era of de-secularization and the neoliberal system. CONTENTS & RESULTS I apply ‘the theory of Non-duality of Buddha and living beings’ to provide ‘the empathy and cooperation education.’ Based on ‘the theory of Non-duality of Buddha and living beings’, I present ‘the empathy and cooperation education’ as an alternative. The root cause of violence, terrorism, and genocide stems from a paradigm that reinforces identity while excluding and otherizing pagans, other races, and minorities. While reinterpreting Wonhyo's “theory of discriminating sameness from differences”, I suggest the theory ‘the difference of Buddha-in-your-pupil’ as an alternative. The subject of Buddha-in-your-pupil is a citizen bodhisattva that synthesizes freedom from, freedom to, and freedom for based on the paradigm of difference of Buddha-in-your-pupil. The new Buddhist education sublates the supremacy of enlightenment, pursues the socialization of enlightenment, and practices ‘the preferential interpretation and compassionate practice for the poor lives’ from the standpoint that ‘the sick place is the center of my body and the world.’ Righteous anger may be ideological from the other side, but ‘compassionate anger’ is justified doctrinally and ethically. The education is needed to raise Buddhists as subjects who are angry at the power and structural contradictions that oppress the weak with the great compassion of one-body.
