초록

Polymer membranes have served as a key element in many useful scientific and technological applications, e.g., sensors, fuel cells, water purification, and desalination and gas and vapor separation. To compete effectively with other materials, it is necessary for polymer membranes to achieve both high permeability and selectivity as well as to impart strong environmental adaptability. A discussion covers new polyimide membranes having high internal free volume for gas separation; incorporation of triptycene-based diamine into polyimide structure; triptycene as the simplest member of iptycenes; comparison with other polyimide membranes; and solubility to common organic solvents. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE 2010 Spring National Meeting (San Antonio, TX 3/21-25/2010).
