초록

A two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is newly developed by solving the nonlinear shallow-water equations. To improve the accuracy of the numerical model, a second-order upwind scheme is employed in discretization of the nonlinear convective terms of the momentum equations. The model developed is first verified by applying to prediction of tidal behaviors. The model is then used to predict sea level change due to major historical typhoons in the Southern coastal zone of the Korean Peninsula. The predicted sea levels are compared to available field measurements. A very reasonable agreement is observed.
