Consciousness of ethics in poetry by Gi hyoung-do

초록

This study is aimed at ethics in poetry by Gi hyoung-do. Since the 1990s, the poets of the next generation have been influenced by Gi Hyung-do's poetry. He was called them as a myth. Gi Hyung-do's poems are characterized by negativity, death and emptiness. Gi Hyeong-do was ‘Vanishing mediator’. Vanishing mediators in Frederic Jameson's theory means that after connecting one era to another, he was gone. The poetry by Gi Hyeong-do sympathized with the sense of solidarity to criticize dictatorship in the 1980s. But there is a fundamental feeling of emptiness in his poems. It led to the spirit of the times of the 1990s. It will be proved through the analysis of poems by Gi Hyeong-do. In Gi Hyung-do's poetry, it is represented that the mental mechanism internalized ‘the symbolic order’. The symbolic order is not perfect. It is split and lacking. The subject of poetry wants to retreat from the symbolic order rather than overthrow it. The subject of poetry does not want to lead a new symbolic order. Paradoxically at this point, Ithe ethics of his poetry emerges. There were two Big Others in the 1980s. They were in the form of Corrupt state power and radical ideology. It was considered important only when it's a big discourse. Gi hyung-do's poetry wanted to withdraw rather than overthrow the symbolic order. Therefore The subject could be away from ideology. In addition, he could not get involved in any symbolic order. Ethos of Gi Hyung-do's poems played a role in the transformation of uniformity into the pluralism of the 1990s.
