초록
This study examines the current state of media law research through reviewing the related books, research articles, and academic theses produced in 2007. It reveals that among a total of 97 research articles, legal specialists wrote 57.5% and media specialists 42.3%. While legal specialists published 14.3% of their articles in the media-related journals, media specialists did not have their articles published in law-related journals at all. It is also found that media specialists frequently applied social scientific methods for the main analysis, most law specialists heavily depended on the conventional legal research methods. Major research interests in both media and law specialists were given to freedom of expression and basic personality rights such as libel and privacy, and the copyright. In academics, nine scholars earned the Ph.D.s with the media law speciality in the law area, none in the media area. Interestingly, 16 gained the Master"s degrees with media law speciality in other areas than media and law areas. The books published in 2007 prove that ‘copyright’ is the mostly attractive and complicated issue among others. Conclusively, this study suggests that more interdisciplinary endeavors between the media and law specialists should be made so as to enhance the development of media law research(especially research method).
