퇴계학파의 여헌 장현광 비판에 관한 연구
초록
This paper is intended to present the way scholars in The School of Toegye criticized Jang Hyeon-Gwang´philosophical theory. Though Jang Hyeon-Gwang belonged to the Toegye School, his philosophical theory was different from Toegye´s and similar to Yulgok´in some aspects. Lots of Scholars in the Toegye School might well exclude Yulgok and criticize his theory severely, because he was considered an actual founder of their theoretical and political rival party called the School of Yulgok. In fact, Jang also refused to accept Toegye´theory and had developed his own theory, which emphasized the unity of Li(principle) and Ch´i(material force). They, however, couldn´t help dealing carefully with Jang´s learning, because he had been highly respected as one of greatest scholars in their School.Yi Gu, Yu Won-Ji, Yi Hyeon-Il, Jeong Si-Han, and Yi Ik, who were all famous scholars in the Toegye School, have a common feature in the aspect that they criticised not only Yulgok´theory but also Jang´s. Even though there were a little difference in their theories, their criticisms of Jang`s theory had some characteristics in common. First, they were convinced that Toegye´s doctrine(Li-Gi-Ho-Bal-Seol) was a orthodox theory accurately succeeding to Jhu Xi`s learning. Secondly, they criticised Yulgok for looking upon Li and Ch´i as one thing. Thirdly, they regarded Jang´s doctrine as same with Yulgok´s. Fourthly, They thought it is necessary to criticize Jang´s theory in order to protect Toegye´s learning and establish the theoretical identity of the Toegye School.
