Tip Clearance Effect of Ducted Fan for VTOL UAV In the Crosswind Turbulence using CFD

초록

Since the rotor blades are located in duct, the UAV which uses ducted fan propulsion system is more efficient and safer than the other conventional UAVs. However, the ducted fan is weak for crosswind turbulence in hovering flight and transition flight. In this study, tip clearance effect of a ducted fan in crosswind turbulence is analyzed using the commercial software ANSYS-CFX. The tip clearances of a ducted fan are changed from 1mm to 3mm in crosswind turbulence. The inflow angles of a ducted fan are 0°, 90°. The experimental and computational results showed good agreement, and these results can be using for control of ducted fan UAV.
