A Study on the Operation and Perception of a Physics Course using the Metaverse

초록

Educational use cases of metaverse are rapidly increasing, it is needed to develop and operate based on specific instructional strategies for sustainable use. In this study, to explore the value of a metaverse-based university curriculum, a physics course using metaverse technology was designed and implemented for preliminary university learners and the educational effects of the course were also analyzed. For this purpose, we designed the course content reflecting the scenario-based metaverse content develop principle for two chapters and explored the learner's perceptions after its implementation. The perception survey was conducted with 134 students and the questionnaire on overall user satisfaction was conducted twice. The result of the analysis of this study showed that the higher the interest and recommendation, the higher the possibility of continued interest in the metaverse. In addition, the higher the psychosocial satisfaction and the perception of use, the more positive the educational satisfaction of the students with the metaverse-based course. The results of this study are significant in that we designed metaverse content reflecting immersion and interaction elements, and explored the perceptions of the learners along with the psychosocial aspects.
