초록

The International Corpus of Learner English (or ICLE) is a representative corpus of English by advanced EFL learners (cf. Granger 1998), which stimulated the construction of the Hanyang Corpus of Learner English (or HCLE), a systematic collection of writings by 2003 freshmen at Hanyang University. This presentation is an interim report on HCLE. This compilation was spurred by the project for ICLE and has been made as part of "A Study for the Evaluation and Improvement of the College English Education Program Taught by Native Speaker" (KRF Research Grant # B-00125). The main points of the presentation will include: (i) the topics of writing given to students, (ii) the process of collection including guidelines for teacher feedbacks, (iii) the process of editing, (iv) the specifications of the corpus, (v) the sample text (vi) some aspects of Korean inter-languages that the corpus reveals.
