여성 창업의 현주소: 한국의 연구 동향과 시사점

Entrepreneurship has recently gained attention as a key driver of economic growth and job creation, with women's entrepreneurship holding tremendous economic potential. However, women's entrepreneurship not only lags behind men's entrepreneurship numerically but also faces challenging startup conditions, including structural barriers in funding and investment attraction, while research on women's entrepreneurship in Korea remains significantly insufficient. Starting from this problem awareness, this study systematically analyzed trends in Korean women's entrepreneurship research and derived implications for future research and policy development by employing topic modeling (LDA) and qualitative analysis on 150 papers indexed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI). The analysis classified women's entrepreneurship research into four major themes: 'Characteristics and Performance of Women's Entrepreneurship', 'Entrepreneurial Intention and Entrepreneurship', 'Career-interrupted Women and Entrepreneurship Education', and 'Women's Entrepreneurship Support'. The research findings revealed that studies on career-interrupted women's entrepreneurship constitute a unique domain reflecting special circumstances such as pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, confirming it as an essential field for future policy research on promoting entrepreneurship related to employment instability. Additionally, female entrepreneurs' entrepreneurial intention was found to be influenced not only by universal factors such as self-efficacy and entrepreneurial orientation, but also by women-specific factors such as work-life balance and overcoming workplace discrimination. This study is significant in that it provides an academic foundation for overcoming the limitations of the challenging environment for women's entrepreneurship and insufficient related research, while presenting directions for future women's entrepreneurship research and policy development.
