초록

In this paper, I gathered Korean mermaid legends scattered around the country and looked at how transformed mermaid narrative gone. I checked the tradition aspect and the meaning of this. At first, Mermaid images drawn from the literature of China has been used as ‘Jungwooneui(情韻義)’ until the middle of Chosun Dynasty. the Not only Yusun(遊仙) writers but also Confucian scholars used especially gyojoo(鮫珠), gyocho(鮫綃), gyosil(鮫室) as symbols. In the late Chosun Dynasty, mermaid narratives was included in various folktales rather than Chinese character poetry. At this, it is emphasized that pretty mermaid met people. Most of all, Writers recorded the stories directly from the eyewitnesses who saw mermaid, so many readers could believe the reality of the mermaid. For many people, the mermaid was being recognized as a creature that actually exists in the ocean. Mermaid stories had been handed down in various parts of the nation in today. These summary results, the following points could be found. First, the mermaid epic has been handed down in all areas of the beach. Second, today's mermaid' images were very similar to the images of the Western little mermaid. Mermaid ripped off Mr. or Mrs. images of the mermaid, and became the princess or pretty girl. Third, mermaid know how to repay the favor. Mermaid gave pearls made from tears or waterproof silk to people. Later the images of repaying remain unchanged, but their ability was much stronger. In short, the mermaid in our country legend and myth have differences from the female protagonist. They don't have formal framework of patience and sacrifice, but have creating productivity of pearl tears and waterprrf silk. Also they went to live together without harm to human. The mermaid have clearly discrimination from Western mermaid.
