AQP genes Expression in Mouse Ovary

Follicle cell development has two major steps in mammalian ovary. The initial stages of folliculogenesis occur independently of gonadortophic hormones. But antrum development is dependent on FSH. FSH were injected, the antrum formation have dramatically accelerate and which required rapid and massive transport of water. Aquaporins(AQPs) support a large volume of water flow through transcellular pathways To date, 11 AQPs have been identified in mammalian transport system. However, little is known about AQP expression pattern during folliculogenesis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible regulation of AQPs expression by PMSG and hCG injected mice. We found that the aquaporin expression in ovarian cycle of hormone injected mice, aquaglyceroporins, AQP3,7,8 , are increased during folliculogenesis and decrease after ovulation. Taken together, the results suggest that AQPs are 3,7,8 are important for fluid accumulation in antral formation in mouse ovary.
