예술강사를 활용한 자유학기제 문화예술교육에 관한 교사의 인식과 요구에 관한 기초 연구

초록

Free Learning Semester is the government’s primary policy that aims at reforming school curriculum and learning in general. It has been introduced for the purpose of fostering creativity and happiness in schools by supporting students’ visions and potential abilities. This study is founded on the premise that Free Learning Semester can be an opportunity to transform schools as a dynamic learning site and to improve students’ schooling experiences by placing arts and culture education at the center of Free Learning Semester programs. In the literature review the background of the Free Learning Semester policy and the meaning of in-school arts and culture education were examined in order to shed light on the transformative approach of arts and culture education to schooling. Then this study investigated the teachers’ perception and needs for arts and culture education and artist teachers in Free Learning Semester by incorporating focus group interview and survey. As a result this study analyzed the strength and weakness of arts and culture education in the context of Free Learning Semester, and proposed the future direction of running arts and culture education programs using artist teachers.
