초록

Highly efficient processing techniques are required to deal with voluminous seismic data such as 3D seismic data. Automatic velocity analysis can be a good solution to reduce the processing time and labor in conventional NMO velocity analysis using velocity spectrums. In this study, we have developed an automatic velocity analysis module using Monte Carlo method and have applied it to synthetic and field data sets. One of the synthetic velocity models contains faults and the other includes a salt canopy. Those velocity models simulate the subsurface of the west coast of Africa. The marine field data set has 4383 CMP gathers obtained by 2D seismic survey. The developed automatic velocity analysis module has been tested its efficiency by comparing the results with those from the conventional manual velocity analysis. Stacked sections made by the developed automatic velocity analysis show coherent events similar to those by manual velocity analysis. Moreover, since our automatic velocity analysis method finds interval velocity (vint) first and then calculates a RMS velocity (vrms) function from vint, the vint section shows subsurface structure trend better than conventional manual velocity analysis.
