초록

For the development of high-sensitivity resistive gas sensors, it is necessary to develop materials with a large surface area, numerous adsorption sites, and numerous resistance modulation sources. Core-shell (C-S) nanofibers (NFs) are a special class of one-dimensional (1D) nanocomposites with a thin shell layer coated onto a core material. Apart from having a high surface area owing to their 1D morphology and rough surface, they are endowed with numerous resistance modulation sources because of the close contact between the core and shell materials. C-S NFs can be easily synthesized using coaxial electrospinning, which is a highly versatile method that allows good control over the synthesis parameters. In this review, we first discuss electrospinning (ES) and coaxial ES techniques and then present target gases and resistive gas sensors. Next, the use of the C-S NFs as resistive gas sensors is discussed by considering various aspects such as gas-sensing response and sensing mechanism. This review summarizes recent progress in and design considerations for the development of C-S NF-based high-performance sensors.
