A Study on Initial Manufacture Characteristics for the Elbows under 10 inch Nominal Diameter installed in New Power Plant

초록

Nuclear and Fossil Plants consist of various equipments and piping system. The cost of piping and related equipment comprises approximately 7~8% proportion of the total construction cost, so that proper selection of pipe diameter and thickness is very important. Pipe diameter and thickness are decided based on ASME B31.1, and -12.5% of nomial thickness is allowed as a manufacturing tolerance. Piping system experiences various degradation mechanisms as plant operating time passes. Wear rate evaluation tends to be very conservative in operating plants because initial thickness is unknown. Understanding the initial manufacture characteristics is very important during the whole operation period in the view of managing pipe integrity. In this paper, initial manufacture characteristics of the elbows under 10 inch nominal diameter installed in new plants reviewed and studied the corelation according to the increase of pipe diameter.
