Design of Rotor with Novel Barrier for Power Improvement of Spoke-Type Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

This study investigated that A novel barrier was applied to improve the power of spoke-type PMSM for washing machine. The Novel barrier maximizes the power by minimizing the magnetic flux leakage generated in the outer and inner ribs. Magnetic flux leakage is a factor that lowers the power, and it is necessary to minimize the leakage magnetic flux. In addition, the design considering rotor stiffness was applied and the mechanical analysis was carried out. The Novel barriers are designed as a trapezoidal barrier and a circle barrier. The trapezoidal barrier is to minimize the magnetic flux leakage generated in the inner rib. Circle barrier is to minimize magnetic flux leakage generated in outer rib. After applying novel barrier, the power was improved and the safety factor was secured through the mechanical analysis.
