진료 불안 감소를 위한 어린이 병원 대기 공간의 인터랙티브 미디어아트 디자인

초록

Background: Hospital visits for vaccinations and treatments often cause significant anxiety for children, resulting in fatigue for both accompanying parents and medical staff. This study proposes an interactive media-art design to serve as a distraction in waiting areas, aiming to alleviate this anxiety about medical treatment. Methods: The research utilized literature reviews and case studies of children's hospital designs to explore distraction techniques. Additionally, surveys of parents and in-depth interviews with preschool-aged children were conducted to identify specific user anxieties and preferences, which directly informed the design requirements. Subsequently, the potential effects of attention switching and the feasibility of the design were verified through a prototype by experts. Results: Findings indicated a strong need for bright lighting, audiovisual content, and tactile engagement. Consequently, the study proposed an interactive media-art design incorporating game elements and nature-friendly fish characters to capture children’s attention. A prototype was developed, and its effectiveness as a distraction tool was confirmed. However, the design requires further modification to the interactive interface to better suit the unique spatial context of a hospital environment. Conclusion: This child-centric design is expected to reduce negative emotions and improve user convenience within hospitals. Future research will focus on retesting the refined prototype and implementing the design in actual hospital settings to verify its operational effectiveness.
