초록

The family clan of Yi Samhwan(1729~1813) is Gyeongju Yi. His courtesy name is Jamok and his pen name is Somi. He inherited the strong scholastic enthusiasm from his clan. He was influenced by the literary artists from Yeoju Yi clan in broader aspects and by Yi Ik in narrower aspects. Yi Yonghu was the person who had the most significant influence on him in terms of literature. Yi Samhwan built the social relationship with the prominent figures through Yi Yonghu. He also had the close relationship with Yi Gahwan, the son of Yi Hyehwan. The strong bond among the family clans based on Yeoju was also confirmed in his works "Seomsapyeon." Seomsapyeon described the social and literary activities among them in detail. The collection of Yi Samhwan's works described the poets from Namin(southern faction). The social relationship with Seok Bukga of those poets required the special attention. He continued the social relationship with the brothers Shin Gwangsu and Shin Gwangha, and Shin Seoksam and Shin Wusang, the sons of Shin Gwangsu. Shin Seoksang was the closest person. Furthermore, Jeong Yakyong shall be mentioned. Yi Samhwan took the lead of Seohak(western learning) reading meeting. Dasan didn't show him up in the meeting, but published "Seohakganghakgi(western learning journal)" as being involved in Seohak reading meetings. Yi Samhwan could build the relationship with people of Jukransisa(literature writing club) through Dasan. This paper is the preliminary research for investigating Yi Samhwan. The social position of Yi Samhwan was summarized by the assessment of people on him in their time and his social relationship. On the basis of the summary, the further study will thoroughly investigae his poem and literature.
