The historical background of the Korean Japanese community formation and their activities

초록

This study attempts to refocus on Korean migrants’ origins in overseas since their political role have been expanded in South Korea due to acquisition of voting rights in 2012 election. In particular, this paper takes look at the formation of Korean Japanese (so called, Zainichi) and their activities in Japan. Zainichi forming society is a product of the colonial rule of the Japanese colonial policy in conjunction with the historical background of Korean migrant to Japan. Even though most of them are enforced migrants fulfilling the Japanese war effort of drafting and labor, their identity has been preserved by mass movement and education toward Korea orientation in some instance. Through this process, it tries to provide a pragmatic basis of a linkage between South Korea and Japan for the stability of Korean peninsula as well as how Zainichi community thinks of motherland.
