A Study on Movement Circulation based on Children's Behavior of Children's Hands-on Exhibition Space

초록

Hands‐on exhibit for children is a form of education that can provide learning and recreation at the same time. It is important as an alternative solution that can provide effective education through experience. This research aims to explore different types of movement circulation based on children's behavior in hands‐on exhibits for children. The subjects were hands‐on exhibits for children built in Seoul since 2000. Less than 1000㎡ exhibit space were selected. Each ten children were observed one by one for analyzing children’s behavior. The results are as follows. The sense of sight and hearing were most common among the five senses. Exhibits using sense of smell or touch were rare. Movement circulation was dependent on the exhibit items installed in the space, viewing directions marked within the space, progressive story within the program, and the children’s decision on order of viewing. Children’s movement circulation was simplified by the unified spatial arrangement within the exhibit space. The Hands‐on exhibit for children provides children's physical activities and is designed well for circulation plan for the children's interest.
