초록
This study aims to systematically review existing research on collaboration and innovation in South Korean startups, with a focus on identifying the factors that drive startups to engage in external collaboration and how such collaboration serves as a driver of innovation. Startups actively utilize external partnerships to overcome resource and capability constraints and to pursue sustainable growth, and these collaborative efforts often lead to innovation outcomes in areas such as products, processes, and services. Based on the "Antecedents-Process-Outcomes" framework by Street & Cameron(2007) and the "Integrated Framework for Collaborative Innovation Research" proposed by Zahoor & Al-Tabbaa(2020), this study constructs an analytical framework and conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 43 academic papers focused on external collaboration among Korean startups. The findings indicate that key antecedents of collaboration include entrepreneurial orientation and openness of the founder, internal R&D capabilities, and institutional and environmental factors. While the formation and management of collaborations tend to center on strategic attitudes and formal networks, domestic studies have predominantly emphasized outcomes, with relatively limited exploration of the collaborative process itself or its theoretical underpinnings. A comparison with international research reveals theoretical gaps and contextual differences in the Korean literature, suggesting the need for longitudinal studies and more diverse theoretical approaches in future research. This study offers foundational insights for the theoretical and practical expansion of research on startup collaboration and innovation.
