외국인 대학원생의 소집단 논문 쓰기 수업에 대한 인식 연구

초록

This study aims to investigate the experiences and perceptions of small group thesis writing classes among Foreign Graduate students majoring in Korean language education, and to provide insights into improving their thesis writing skills. To this end, pre- and post-class surveys were conducted with graduate students majoring in Korean language education at H University in Seoul. The pre-class survey examined their experiences with small group activities and academic writing, while the post-class survey assessed the effectiveness of the class and the difficulties encountered in the thesis writing process. The results of the pre-class survey revealed that most students had experience with small group activities and were generally satisfied with them. Additionally, while they had some experience with academic writing, systematic education in this area was lacking. The post-class survey results indicated that the thesis writing class was helpful in improving their thesis writing skills. The reasons cited included the sharing of diverse ideas and problem-solving through collaboration, and the acquisition of knowledge and methods related to thesis writing. Students mainly faced difficulties in data analysis and topic selection during the thesis writing process, suggesting a need for education on research methods, language data analysis tools, and the significance of reviewing prior research. While small group activities allowed for the sharing of various opinions and ideas, communication issues and the participation attitudes of team members were highlighted as challenges. Therefore, there is a need for specific guidelines for small group activities, continuous feedback from instructors, and education on the importance of considerate and respectful communication among students during these activities.
