초록

The lobby, which is the most important space defining the image of the hospital, should reflect fundamental features of the plan and the characteristics of Universal Design in order to provide the patients and users with safe and comfortable use. In this context, the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of Universal Design reflected on rehabilitation hospitals, and provide basic data for space planning of rehabilitation hospitals' lobbies. The method of this study is a field survey on 7 samples of rehabilitation hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi. The findings of this study is as follows. First, overall, the applicability of Universal Design to the rehabilitation hospitals' lobbies was found to have been well planned in providing easy accessibility with patients and users. Second, various elements regarding safety were found to be insufficiently qualified. The corners and edges of the furniture in the counter were found to need to be safely rounded and polished. And, the floor was found to be in need of a plan to lay the floor blocks for convenient and safe accessibility and use finishing materials on the floor to prevent patients and users from slipping. Third, highly visible signs or direction indicators needed to be installed to facilitate communication and moving of patients and users.
