Thermo-electrochemical modeling of LiCl-LiBr-LiF thermal battery

초록

A thermo-electrochemical modeling is presented to simultaneously predict thermal and electrochemical behaviors in multi-layered LiCl-LiBr-LiF thermal batteries. This modeling effort coupled thermal energy equation with electrochemical models considering heat generation and consumption in a lumped manner and temperature-dependent physicochemical properties. Input variables for the battery modeling are carefully chosen such that temperature distribution over an entire computational domain as a function of time was numerically predicted for battery designs. Particularly, electrochemical analyses have been performed to predict the cut-off voltage or voltage profiles which is strongly affected by temperature evolutions in thermal batteries.
