초록

In this modern era, humanism and wellbeing are becoming the guiding themes for transformation and practices. Within the field of tourism transformational and existential topics are the important points at issue, which are closely related to eudaimonic happiness. This paper suggests an integrated perspective on the concept and structure of transformative tourism that induces changes in human life. Based on rigorously researched data, this conceptual article proposes a framework integrating the so far incoherent process as suggested by previous researchers. From the proposed integrated framework, in total four steps of transformative process are closely interconnected and likely to have an impact on change of tourists. Especially, Environmental stimuli and meaning making in tourism are viewed as the strength of leading an individual’s existential transformation and behavioral transformation. Based on this holistic process, in the future study, the researchers will account for the relationship between the context of everyday life and the context of tourist transformative behavior, which will be examined empirically in the study.
