초록
This is an empirical study that examines the effect of foreign airlines flight attendants’ mother culture preserving·non-preserving behaviors on recovery and intent to stay. This study focuses on Korean flight attendants working for foreign airlines based in overseas and the difficulties they experience in real life. The aim of this study was to determine the causal relationship between their mother culture preserving/non-preserving behaviors, recovery, and intent to stay. To this end, three factors of mother culture preserving behaviors and four factors of mother culture non-preserving behaviors were drawn from existing studies. Based on these seven factors, eight hypotheses were established to test their causal relationship with recovery and intent to stay. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted from February to April of 2020 with 200 Korean flight attendants working at foreign airlines. Frequency analysis of data collected from a total of 198 copies of valid questionnaire was conducted using SPSS 21.0 statistical program. As a result of the analysis, it was found that making contacts with people from motherland and factors of mother culture non-preserving behaviors increased intent to stay through recovery. In other words, it was judged that all other behavioral factors except for visiting motherland and making contacts with mother culture have a significant effect on intent to stay. Based on these research findings, this study suggests meaningful implications for human resource management considering the state of affairs and internal situations of Korean flight attendants at foreign airlines and organizational operation of foreign airlines industry.
