This article is composed of content to present a discourse on the military-strategic value and economic value of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and to explore the historical significance of the Trans-Siberian Railway in connection with the Korean Peninsula. Those who place more importance on military and strategic values ​​argue that the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway started at the end of the 19th century, so empires trying to advance into East Asia engaged in geo-strategic competition to secure military and diplomatic superiority, and the competition was fierce. However, the argument that the Trans-Siberian Railway was built because its economic and industrial value was more important is also very significant. Scholars with this point of view emphasized that the Trans-Siberian Railway can dramatically develop the Russian economy by targeting the vast economic population of East Asia such as China, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. This paper examines the relevance to the Korean Peninsula railway at the time through the issues related to the Trans-Siberian Railway. The history of international relations in East Asia unfolded centered on railroads. After completing the railway on the Korean Peninsula and winning the Russo-Japanese War, Japan expanded its sphere of influence to Manchuria. The first railway that Japan had to build in order to advance into Manchuria was the Korean Peninsula Synthesis Railway. The reason that Japan had no choice but to be more active in the construction of the Korea Railway on the Korean Peninsula was caused by the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia in 1891. Japan viewed the Trans-Siberian Railway a means of expanding its power on the Korean Peninsula, and was able to strongly oppose Russia by completing the synoptic railroad on the Korean Peninsula based on this point of view, and ultimately won the Russo-Japanese War.
