국제신생 벤처기업의 특성 연구: 국내지향 벤처기업과의 비교

초록

Conventional theories on internationalization have failed to completely delineate the active globalization of newly founded Korean ventures, born-global firms. With an ERI(entrepreneur, resource, industry) model, derived from the existing ERIS (entrepreneur, resource, industry, strategy) model, this study purports to examine the characteristics of Korean born-global firms by comparing with those of domestic new ventures. Using a database compiled by the Small and Medium Business Administration, this study found that 1) CEO founders of born-global firms are older and have higher educational degrees than those of domestic new ventures, 2) born-global firms are more likely to possess technological capacity than domestic new ventures, 3) born-global firms operate in the industries with higher levels of government subsidy and more hostile business conditions than domestic new ventures. The empirical results cast new insights in understanding strategic behaviors of Korean born-global firms.
