초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the gender role and the commitment in the physical education based on the survey of 500 middle school students, male and female, of male middle schools, female middle schools, co-ed middle schools located in Gyeonggi-do. To validate the hypothesis, statistical methods were used such as technical statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis,one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and the following conclusions were drawn: First, a statistically significant difference was found in the feminity in relation to the perception toward gender role in physical education, while no statistically significant difference was found among male students. Second, male middle school students tended to have higher perception of masculinity than students of female middle schools and co-ed middle schools. Third, a statistically significant difference was found in the commitment to the physical education, depending on the gender, in relation to the self-purpose experience, the sense of challenge and control, the integration into the physical education course, except the commitment related to the contents of physical education, which were among the sub-variables of the commitment in the physical education. Fourth, there was a statistically significant difference in the commitment to the physical education, depending on the type of school. Fifth, it was found that the perception toward the gender role in physical education had a significant effect on the feminity.
