A Genealogy of Korean Poetry during the Liberation Period

초록

Poems written during the liberation period encarnalized the story of joy and frustration, conflict and reconciliation, resistance and confirmity, enmity and peace, self-reflection and excuse as they were and embroidered many patterns in the history of Korean literature. The subject of creation was varied from poets who had written from the colonial period to new figures of the period and they wrote wide variety of poems with their own colors. Firstly, poets from Chosun-Munhakga-Dongmaeng(Korean Writers Alliance) placed emphasis on manifesting sharp political awareness and sometimes took strong sense of purpose to inspire struggle consciousness for overcoming the division or foreign power. Poets who focused the purity of a poem stick to the role in which poems unify historical self and existential self within lyricism. They pushed out poems which took the development of zone of lyric poetry with high artistic quality, introspection of universal view of life, inquiry into nature or daily life and so on as their subjects and contributed to the maturing of modern Korean poetry. Lastly, Yoon, Dongju and Yi, Yuksa was discovered and took root as a resistance poet during this period. The existence and discovery of them who proved that the limping of mentality at the end of Japanese colonial period did not resulted in ethical breakdown but produced the context of stout resistance offered us an opportunity to sublimate them to our valuable intellectual and emotional assets.
