청소년 비행 동향 및 비행 유형별 특성 분석

This study aims to analyze trends in juvenile delinquency from 2014 to 2024 and to examine specific characteristics by delinquency type to propose tailored intervention strategies. Using secondary data from criminal justice statistics, police records, and court yearbooks, offenses were classified into five types: violent, assault, property, traffic, and public morals/drugs. The study analyzed sociodemographic factors, delinquencyrelated traits, and judicial dispositions based on these categories. Despite a declining youth population, the delinquency rate increased, particularly among 14-to-15-year-olds, indicating a lowering age of offenders. Property offenses remained the most frequent, while public morals and drug-related offenses in 2024 surged nearly eightfold when compared to those in 2014. Property and traffic offenses exhibited high recidivism and co-offending rates. Violent offenses showed a higher proportion of offenders with suspected mental or developmental disabilities. Additionally, public morals/drug offenses were notably linked to middle-class backgrounds and online co-offenders. Juvenile offenders are not a homogeneous group. Effective prevention and rehabilitation require systematic, individualized, and early interventions tailored to the distinct motives, risks, and characteristics of each delinquency type.
