초록

Reason functions as an inner faculty to play critical roles inunderstanding the existence of God by perceiving and reinterpreting His existencerevealed through intuition and revelation. Generally, faith and reason are twoelements for knowing truth. Heinrich Heine criticizes blind faith which mightexclude such roles of reason: reason performs universal functions in the realizationof justice; and reason helps people realize their individual finitude and thenegativity of historical reality. Only on those premises be faith believed to be freefrom the danger of blind faith and fanaticism. In his later years, his hope ofbuilding an ideal future with religion was able to be reinforced in the way reasonand faith were not exclusive from each other but mutually complementary. Hetries to find the possibility of faith and reason ultimately compatible through thefree thinking of tension and conflict.
