Recently, underground tunnel excavation work under and around railroad facilities is mostly performed by blasting, so blasting vibration not only damages railroad facilities but can also cause serious problems in train operation safety. In general, blasting vibration limit for railway facilities is set to 0.3 cm/sec, and design and construction are performed; however, the blasting vibration limit is set too low in view of the structural and material characteristics of railway facilities. This study proposed a blasting vibration limit for railway facilities by measuring and analyzing the vibration of various trains operating on the Gyeongbu Line several times and comparing observed values with blasting vibration characteristics, domestic road and industrial facility management standards, and earthquake alert level standards for railway safety management.
