초록
In 2008, Kenya launched economic development strategy, named ‘Vision 2030’. It aims to facilitate the economic modernization particularly in the field of manufacturing industry, road․ rail and port infrastructures in return, promoting trade. In addition, Kenyan government reformed constitution to institutionalize the strength of the parliamentary authority and the local government system through the modification of electoral system, eventually undermining the Presidential authority and reducing political isolation. From 2016 China has involved in this developmental process on the behalf of its strategy towards Africa in the part of One Belt One Road policy. China has attempted to secure natural resource, new market and improve its position in the international society based on building bridges between China and Africa countries. China has invested infrastructure constructions such as road, rail and port. In the context, this study investigates whether China’s involvement has a positive impact towards Africa’s modernization or has fixed neo-colonialism. Although China’s investment matches with Kenya’s vision 2030, harmonizing with Kenyan industry and political stability still remains in question . Due to enhanced Kenya-China cooperation, it is possible to have a higher competition between China and US to dominate East Africa region.
