Visualization of Medical Information Using Direct-Projected Augmented Reality

초록

In the field of medical imaging, augmented reality has widely been used for visualizing medical information. Projection-based augmented reality, in particular, has enabled intuitive and convenient visualization of medical information by directly projecting it onto surgical targets without frequently monitoring displays or continuously wearing augmented reality displays such as head-mounted displays (HMDs). In this paper, we call such visualization technology of medical information medical direct-projected augmented reality (MeDAR) and present its visualization framework with fundamental techniques. Practical solutions to flexibly adapt to real surgical environment are also explained. Finally, user interactions with MeDAR are discussed by proposing a human friendly pen-based interface.
