초록
Thermotropic liquid crystal polymers have attracted a great deal of interest because of their potential application as high performance engineering plastics. TLCPs can be oriented to form fibrils under elongational or shear flow during melt processing, and the oriented fibrous structures are developed in the extruded TLCP, resulting in self-reinforcing characteristics. In this regard, research and development have been extensively performed to date to achieve their practical applications in a wide range of industry. Carbon nanotubes have attracted a great deal of interest as advanced materials, since CNTs were first discovered by lijima in 1991. Moreover, this discovery has created a high level of activity in materials research, leading to the practical realization of the extraordinary properties of CNTs such as their excellent electrical properties, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength. The fundamental research underlying the applications of CNTs suggests that they can be utilized as a promising reinforcement in new kinds of polymer nonocomposites.
