The Relationships between Snowboaders' Locus of Control, Perceived Risk of Participating in Leisure Activities and Information Seeking Behavior

초록

The purpose of this study is to find the relationships among snowboaders’ locus of control(LOC) and perceived risk of participating in leisure activities, and information seeking behavior in the process of participating in snowboarding activity. The survey for this study was conducted from Jan. 8th to 9th 2005. The available sample size was 168. This study found that there was statistically significant relation between recreationists’ locus of control and perceived physical risk. There was only one difference, that is, physical risk, in testing the differences on perceived risks between internal LOCists and external LOCists. The behavioral dimension of seeking information including seeking information behavior prior to launching travel, usefulness and easiness in seeking information influenced snowboaders’ satisfaction in seeking information. This study also found that LOC did not influence snowboaders’ satisfaction in seeking information, which do not match with the previous studies.
