남북관계: 50년의 경험과 교훈

초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze and assess inter-Korean relations from 1972 to 2021. Examining the ups and downs of North-South Korean relations in each nine governments from Park Jung-hee to Moon Jae-in, this paper tries to examines how and why mutual relationships improved and deteriorated and what factors made influence in the process. For this purpose, this study applies realist and liberalist perspectives in analyzing the features of the policy directions of the two Koreas. In addition, the external policy of North and South Korea are categorized into status quo and revisionist orientations in order to look into the interaction between the two actors in Korea. Both North and South Korea could not take policies which were exclusively oriented towards statu quo or revisionism, given international power distribution. In this context, this study introduced the concept of ‘negative’ status quo and revisionism, and ‘positive’ status quo and revisionism.
