초록

A new moving boundary technique for a numerical model is proposed for an accurate prediction of the maximum run-up heights Of tsunamis along a coast. The proposed technique improves the moving boundary scheme developed by IMAMURA (1996). The technique is tested and verified by comparing numerical predictions to analytical Solutions of THACKER (1981) for an oscillatory fluid motion in a circular paraboloidal basin. The technique is then used to predict the maximum run-up heights of the 1983 Central East Sea Tsunami along the Eastern Coast of the Korean Peninsula. The obtained run-up heights are compared with available field observed data. A very reasonable agreement is achieved.
