Does critical thinking destroy culture?

In this paper I examine the question of whether critical thinking pedagogy, in strengthening the intellectual autonomy of students and freeing them from blind conformity to tradition and social groupings, weakens the bonds of custom and ommuinity. I eamine the question conceptually, but also historically, considering the effect that Socrates had on Athenian culture.
