On the Study of the Establishment of Condition Based Maintenance System for Weapon Systems

초록

This study investigates the critical role of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) in capitalintensive industries such as defence and aerospace. It emphasizes the importance of CBM in enhancing the operational rate and mission success rate of weapon systems, thereby maximizing their operational efficiency and reliability. CBM involves collecting and monitoring weapon system state data to detect anomalies and predict failures, optimizing maintenance operations. Grounded in extensive literature research, this study focuses on developing a CBM framework and a CBM system. It examines how applying CBM in weapon system maintenance improves performance and reduces operational and maintenance costs. Through in-depth interviews with experts from the military, industry, and academia, as well as focused group interviews with field units, the study gathers data and insights to establish a practical CBM framework and system applicable to the military context. The findings highlight the significance of implementing a CBM system for weapon systems, contributing to ongoing innovations in defence logistics. The successful application of the weapon system CBM system is expected to enable predictable maintenance, leading to improved equipment operational rate, increased reliability, reduced operational and maintenance costs, and ultimately, enhanced mission capability of weapon systems. Furthermore, establishing a weapon system CBM system proposes a new paradigm in weapon system maintenance and lays the foundation for future research related to the development and application of CBM systems.
