This paper proposes a flux-based Modulated Model Predictive Current Control(MMPCC) method that enhances control performance in both steady-state and transient operating conditions by using a flux saturation model. The conventional MMPCC does not consider flux saturation, which limits its control performance. The proposed method enhances the prediction accuracy of the motor model by using the flux saturation model, which accurately reflects the nonlinear flux saturation characteristics of the motor. Since the current is converted into flux based on a mathematical model, the proposed method can be applied to general DSP-based embedded systems. The proposed method converts the current into flux through mathematical equations for all operating points, thereby achieving improved dynamic performance even under step load conditions. This paper compares the conventional current-based MMPCC using constant inductances with the proposed method using flux-based MMPCC. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through experiments with 11kW IPMSM.
